Olivia Shines on the National Stage

We are proud to celebrate the achievements of Year 9 student Olivia Rutter, who has been selected to represent Western Australia in the U16s WA‑Gold Team at the 2026 National Hockey Championships to be held in Tasmania this April.

Olivia plays as a goalkeeper, a position she loves for the challenge and responsibility of defending the goals for her team. Her dedication to the sport is clear—she trains twice a week at the Perth Hockey Stadium and has been passionate about hockey since she began playing when she was in Year 3, inspired by her older sister who also plays.

When asked what it takes to excel as a hockey goalkeeper, Olivia highlights the importance of strong communication skills, quick reaction times, flexibility, and physical strength. Her hard work and determination continue to drive her toward her ultimate dream: representing Australia in the Olympics.
