Novel in an Hour

Today our Adolescent Program students took part in a Literacy Day activity called Novel in an Hour.

The challenge was simple, but certainly not easy! Each group was given a different chapter from a novel and had a limited amount of time to read, understand and prepare their interpretation of the chapter. The students then had the freedom to decide how they wanted to bring their story to life before presenting it to their peers.

And what a variety of ideas they came up with!

Throughout the activity, we saw students transform their chapters into comic strips, dramatic plays, puppet shows, digital animations and other creative formats. Each group approached their chapter in a different way, highlighting not only their understanding of the text but also their individual creativity and teamwork.

One of the best parts of the activity was seeing how much the students were able to achieve in such a short amount of time. They had to work together, share ideas, make decisions and think creatively to turn a chapter of a novel into an engaging performance or presentation.

There were plenty of imaginative interpretations, along with a few performances that gave everyone a very good laugh!
