KIC Female Engineering Pre-apprenticeship Program
Meet our Women’s Engineering School Based Trainee: Kaydence
Since arriving at the Adolescent Program in Middle School, Kaydence has expressed a strong desire to pursue a career in engineering-related trades. Now in Year 11, Kaydence has been accepted into the Kwinana Industries Council School-Based Traineeship for young women.
The program is designed for female students interested in gaining exposure to engineering and trade-related working environments. Students develop skills and knowledge in a range of engineering and manufacturing tasks, which will enhance their prospects for apprenticeships, traineeships, or general employment in an engineering-related workplace.
An initiative of the Kwinana Industries Council, the KIC Female Engineering Pre-Apprenticeship is a two-year program which Kaydence will complete during Years 11 and 12 alongside her AP studies. The program takes a maximum of 16 students per year, who receive training one day a week at South Metropolitan TAFE, with additional time in work placements throughout the year.
