From Shelter Building to Fractions – Lower Primary (Jellyfish Class)

The Jellyfish class has enjoyed an action-packed Term 2, beginning with our Lower Primary Camp. The children had a wonderful time participating in a range of activities, with the new Shelter Build challenge proving particularly popular. During this activity, they practised tying common knots and worked together to create shelters using ropes, tarps and materials found in the local environment. By Friday afternoon, everyone returned home tired but happy after a fantastic camp experience.

One lesson that is always a highlight of the year is our Introduction to Fractions. This much-anticipated lesson brings fractions to life as fruit and even a block of chocolate are divided into halves, quarters and beyond! The older children know exactly what's coming and help build excitement for the younger students.

This term, the children have also been taking turns making playdough for the class. Working together, they read the procedure, measure ingredients and follow each step carefully. Along the way they develop fine motor skills, teamwork and cooperation, while putting their negotiation skills to the test when deciding on the colour!
