Exploring Trade Careers at Try-A-Trade

Last week, a group of our Adolescent Program students participated in the three-day Try-A-Trade program at South Metropolitan TAFE Rockingham, gaining valuable hands-on experience and insight into potential future career pathways.

Designed to help students make informed decisions about their futures, the Try-A-Trade program introduces participants to a variety of trade areas while increasing awareness of opportunities within the construction industry. The program also supports career development and pathway planning by providing students with practical experiences in a real-world learning environment.

Throughout the three days, students engaged in hands-on activities that allowed them to explore different trades, develop practical skills and gain a better understanding of the training and qualifications available through Vocational Education and Training (VET) pathways.

It was wonderful to see our students throw themselves into the experience and make the most of every opportunity. They approached each activity with genuine enthusiasm and a willingness to learn, gaining valuable insight into a range of potential career and training pathways.

Experiences such as Try-A-Trade are an important part of helping students connect their interests and strengths with future opportunities. By working alongside industry professionals and participating in authentic learning experiences, students can gain a clearer understanding of the options available to them as they begin considering their next steps beyond school.

We are proud of the way our students represented the school throughout the program and grateful to South Metropolitan TAFE Rockingham for providing this valuable opportunity.
