Children’s House – Week 6 Term 1 2026

This term in Kara the children are showing greater fondness for engaging with various jobs in practical life, both mentally and physically. Preliminary activities such as orange juicing, table scrubbing, plant care and threading jobs help to develop strong learning habits such as concentration. Through purposeful practical life exercises and control of movement, the students are refining their gross and fine motor skills to enable the hands to orient themselves and manage larger pieces of writing.

The Kara children are displaying wonderful progress in their self-confidence due to repetition and engagement with various practical life jobs. This sense of agency stirs curiosity and ambition in the children to understand their world better as they practise daily family-oriented tasks such as grace and courtesy with each other within our Kara class community. This learning is then transferred to the individual child’s home life and learning as well.
