Building Connections Through Our Dad Network

Our first Dad Network event brought together a great group of primary school fathers and their children for an evening of spending time together and meeting other families in our community. Before the event, our students made pizza for their fathers, and on the night they worked together to make paper airplanes. It was a chance to step away from the usual routine and simply enjoy some time together.

One of the things we hope to build through the Dad Network is a stronger sense of connection between fathers in our school community. School events can be a great way to meet other families, but it is not always easy to find opportunities to get to know the people you see at drop-off or pick-up. An evening like this gives fathers a chance to have a conversation, share a laugh and get to know some of the other fathers in the community.

The response to our first event was really positive, with many of those who attended commenting on how much they enjoyed the evening. It was lovely to see fathers getting involved with their children while also making connections with one another.

The Dad Network is something we hope to continue building, with more opportunities for fathers and their children to come together throughout the year. Thank you to everyone who helped put our first event together, and to The Fathering Project for supporting opportunities like this within our school community. We hope to see even more families join us at our next Dad Network event.
