Lower Primary - Week 8 Term 1 2026

The Jellyfish class has had an amazing start to the new school year. It was wonderful to welcome new classmates from Children’s House and new friends to the RMS community.

The term began with the Montessori First Great Story, The Coming of the Universe, an engaging introduction to how the universe began, based on current scientific understanding such as the Big Bang. Through storytelling and simple experiments, the lesson explores how matter, stars, and planets, including our own Earth, formed over time.

The Jellyfish children were very excited to hear the story and even more excited to see and participate in the experiments. Since then, they have been able to connect this “beginning of everything” to their everyday learning in the classroom, particularly when exploring space and what we know about it today.

During Weeks 4 and 5, the children joined the other classes for swimming lessons at Aqua Jetty. The Jellyfish children displayed their organisational and independence skills as they got themselves ready for swimming and packed away after the lessons. The bus rides were a source of fun and full of excitement. The children worked hard to improve their swimming skills while having a great time.

During Visual Art lessons, the children created outer space themed artworks using circles and shapes inspired by the artist Wassily Kandinsky. Two Upper Primary students, Jamal and Ben, also helped design an obstacle course for the Jellyfish class to use during a sport lesson. The children had a wonderful time participating in all the different activities and were especially excited to finish the session with a game of dodgeball.

With the end of term quickly approaching, the children have been creating Easter themed decorations, finishing off work, and preparing for our upcoming Open Classroom.

Have a wonderful end of term and holidays.
From Robyn, Shahnaaz, and the whole Jellyfish class.
