Little Chefs in Children’s House
Cooking and food preparation have been such a joyful part of life in the Children’s House Seahorse classroom lately. The children have had a great time making a range of dishes, including pasta salad, banana honey cakes, cheesy herb quiches, coconut cookies, pineapple muffins and mini quiches.
These experiences are about more than the finished product. As the children mash, grate, measure, whisk and juice, they’re building coordination and fine motor skills in a hands-on way. You can see their confidence grow as they become more independent with each step.
It’s also been lovely to see how they care for their space. From sweeping and wiping tables to washing and drying dishes, the children take pride in helping out. Their sense of responsibility is really starting to shine, and they’re contributing in such a positive way to the classroom community.
