Student Led Class Meetings

Each Friday this semester, Turtles Upper Primary Class have taken part in student-led class meetings. The meetings are run by a Chair and Vice Chair who nominate themselves and are voted in by their peers.

During the meetings, the children reflect on their week, discuss goals for the week ahead and revisit any follow-up items from previous meetings. They also decide on class jobs for the following week and discuss ideas from the class suggestion box. The meetings finish with “Any Other Business”, where children can raise additional ideas, concerns or celebrations relevant to the class.

The children take on a variety of important roles including Photographer, Timekeeper and Note Taker. They prepare agendas, record notes and work together to ensure the meetings run smoothly. These meetings are a valuable opportunity for the children to build leadership, responsibility and communication skills while contributing positively to the classroom community.
