Principal’s News - Week 5 Term 3 2026
How fantastic was last Wednesday night for our very first fathers’ event held at the Adolescent Program? We had sixty fathers or father figures join us for this fun night of activities all about paper airplanes. Your children loved having you there and put so much effort into making your pizza during the day. Please ensure you have 2 September in your diary for our next Dad’s event, which will be held at the Warnbro Bowling Club, 38 Okehampton Rd, Warnbro Western Australia 6169 from 5–6pm. This follow-up event is just for our father figures and so will give you a leave pass for the night from your children. We look forward to seeing you there and hope you will join us to make connections with the other father figures from our school.
I want to say a huge thank you to the Noorn Advisory and to Ezra for planting the new flower garden at the Chapel on the Karnup site. This beautiful space will provide an abundance of pretty flowers that our Infant Toddler children from Playgroup will be able to cut to have as their flower arrangements in their prepared environment. I also want to say a huge thank you to Michael, Jarryn, Oakley, Serafina, Lennox, Tom, Alex and Noah for pressure cleaning the paving, creating the limestone wall with the limestone capping and filling the sandpit, along with another thank you to Shane, who created the timber seating which provides storage and covers the power point in the sandpit area. What a team, and now we welcome families to join us at the new playgroup program where parents/families can come and learn about Montessori with our youngest children.
I want to thank the staff who gave their time to prepare and present the Parent Education Session this past week to cover the Language curriculum. Our next Parent Education Session is scheduled for the afternoon of 4 November, and we look forward to all families joining us for this event. The education of your child is our priority, and we thank you for coming to the parent education sessions to ensure we are aligned on the journey to maximise your child’s educational journey.
Another well-deserved thank you goes to Tony Gillespie for his work as the Chair of the Kwinana Industries Council (KIC) VET committee. This group of twenty secondary schools from Spearwood in the north through to Comet Bay in the south organises all of the TAFE and further training program placements across the Peel region, along with working with KIC organisations to run work readiness programs that are linked to businesses on the coastal strip of Kwinana to Henderson. Thank you, Tony, as your commitment to the KIC has enabled many of our students to gain positions in these amazing programs.
We are greatly looking forward to the upcoming Montessoirée event on Friday 28 August from 4–7pm. Your children are all involved in this event by creating items at school, running activities, being part of the talent show or hosting their own stalls on the night. Community Spirit will meet at 9am on Thursday 20 August at the Adolescent Program site (2 Blackburn Drive, Port Kennedy). We require more parent helpers prior to the Montessoirée event and also on the night of the event to help with our café. Please come along to the Community Spirit meeting to find out what is required. Many hands make light work and will mean shorter shifts for all involved.
Kind regards,
Vanessa
