Jellyfish Class – Term 3 Highlights

The Lower Primary Jellyfish class has had an engaging and busy Term 3. We started the term with an excursion to the PK Playground for the opening of the Six Seasons Garden. Later that week, we raised money for children in foster care by having a PJ Day. The term has focused on literacy, the importance of developing good literacy skills, and the gifts of a good book. The children participated in a special Book Week performance called ‘Something Special’. They then dressed up as their favourite book characters in recognition of International Literacy Day.

The Jellyfish children learned about bike safety during the Constable Care incursion, ‘Wheely Safe Adventure’. We then did some activities in the classroom where we discussed statements relating to bike safety and discussed whether they were true or false. The children planted plants into teacups to sell at the Montessoirée, which was the event of the term! It was exciting to see a Jellyfish class member perform a magic trick as part of the talent show.

We also must acknowledge all the learning that has taken place this term. The Jellyfish children have really worked hard across all learning areas, with many self-directed research projects undertaken. It has been wonderful to see the children follow their own interests and take responsibility for their learning. Some children created a diorama of the ocean floor, while others created large posters about wild animals, which they added to throughout the term. Other children have explored topics of interest through books, research and creative projects, sharing their knowledge and discoveries with their classmates.
