Finding Our Characters Through Drama

In Drama, Upper Primary students have been exploring how we can use our faces and bodies to show a character, rather than relying on words.

The children have been trying out different facial expressions, gestures, postures and movements to show how a character might be feeling. We have had lots of fun creating different characters and guessing what others are trying to portray.

Drama is also a great way to build confidence in the classroom. When everyone is having a go, being a bit silly and laughing together, it can make performing feel much less daunting. It gives the children a chance to get to know each other better and feel more comfortable having a go, even if they get something wrong.

It has been lovely to see the children getting involved and becoming more confident as they experiment with different ways of expressing themselves. Drama gives them a chance to be creative, work together and communicate in a way that is a little different from their usual classroom activities.
